The 'Science of Sleep (La Science des Reves), Wednesday, April 7 at Controcinema

From the cycle " In what world do you live? - The reality that surrounds you is different from the one you are living "
edited by Martina Agostini

The concept of reality has always been the subject of reflection and debate: Some say that there is only one objective and that everyone should see, others argue that the "perception" the only possible instrument for have experience of reality, but that tool is personal and subjective, while referring to constant cultural, biological and physiological. In this series I wanted to show more or less obvious distortions of reality, which can start from a dream ( Brazil ) or be the means to an end of life ( Shallow Hal ) manipulation of reality to maintain a psycho-physical balance ( Good bye Lenin ) and actual conditions of perception, often based on creative geniuses (L 'Arte dream .) Bias shared or absurd, but which are united by a common causality: does not accept, perhaps, true reality. The decision was also guided by my personal "taste" for solutions impossible, but unlikely, that awaken the imagination quietly, without shaking or trauma. Martina Agostini

The 'Science of Sleep (La Science des Reves)
of Michel Gondry, 2006, Fra-Ita, 105min.
The shy and imaginative Stéphane moved from Mexico at the invitation of Madrea in Paris to start working as an illustrator of calendars, but the 'promised to use it proves far less creative than expected. Meanwhile, Stephanie knows, his neighbor, a girl with great creativity who collects objects made of felt, which soon falls in love. Failing to declare his feelings, makes it become part of his dream world with effects sometimes happy, other disastrous ...

Michel Gondry pulls out of the hat a Lovestory Platonic and desperate, unrelated to the dialogue between two characters on the Two Chief World Systems, which regulates the 'universe, unable, because of their fault or destiny, to unite in a harmonious its own peculiarities. An act of 'love for the cinema of infancy.

Shallow Hal (Shallow Hal)
Bobby and Peter Farrelly, 2001, USA, 113min.
To Hal to try to win women of extraordinary beauty and a way of life. A guru of autogenic training offers to help him develop the ability to recognize true beauty in a woman: the interior. Every woman has this virtue will always appear beautiful in his eyes.

In what is essentially a comedy have been intelligently incorporated fun, even if just mentioned, some dramatic grain and some light food for thought that, coming unexpectedly because of the general context, give the film a 'an identity little more complex and sophisticated than what we would expect to bring a product like this.
